About the Journal

What the journal is

International Research Insights is a peer reviewed, open access electronic journal that publishes original research across law, health and nursing sciences, language and literature, history and heritage, education, public policy, and science and environment studies. It is published four times a year and is free to read and free to publish in.

The journal was founded on a straightforward observation. A great deal of careful, useful research is produced in colleges, universities, hospitals, courts and classrooms that are not part of the small circle of institutions whose work travels easily. That research is often let down not by its quality but by the absence of an editorial process willing to read it properly, review it fairly and publish it to a standard that other scholars can cite with confidence. International Research Insights exists to provide that process.

Aims

1. To publish original, evidence based research that advances understanding in its field, whether the field is constitutional law, clinical nursing practice, Hindi literary criticism or municipal water governance.
2. To give every author a substantive, written editorial response, so that even a rejection leaves the author better equipped than before.
3. To hold a single standard of review across every discipline the journal covers, so that a multidisciplinary title never becomes an excuse for uneven rigour.
4. To keep scholarship freely available to readers and free of cost to authors, so that neither a library budget nor a research grant decides who can read or publish.
5. To publish in both English and Hindi, treating research written in Hindi as scholarship rather than as translation waiting to happen.

Scope

The journal is multidisciplinary by design. Work is commissioned, reviewed and published within named research sections, each with its own scope statement and its own reviewers. The sections are listed in full on the research sections page.

Manuscripts that cross sections are welcome and are reviewed by referees drawn from each field involved. Work that engages Indian material is welcome, and so is work with no Indian dimension at all. What the journal asks of every manuscript is that it states a question, sets out how it was investigated, presents evidence that a reader can check, and argues to a conclusion the evidence supports.

What the journal publishes

• Research articles reporting original empirical, doctrinal, archival, clinical or theoretical work.
• Review articles that map the state of a debate and say something the individual studies do not.
• Case comments on judgments, policy instruments or clinical cases of wider significance.
• Short communications reporting a single finding, a method or a data set of use to other researchers.
• Book reviews of scholarly works published within the preceding three years.
• Editorials commissioned by the editorial board.

What the journal does not publish

The journal does not publish unedited conference abstracts, promotional writing, opinion pieces without evidence, student assignments submitted unchanged, work already published elsewhere, or manuscripts under consideration by another journal. It does not publish work whose data cannot be produced on request. It does not publish anything in exchange for payment, and it does not offer expedited review for a fee, because no such fee exists.

Standards and independence

Every manuscript that passes editorial screening is read by at least two reviewers who do not know the author’s identity, and whose identities the author does not learn. The criteria used by reviewers are published in full in the peer review policy, so that authors can see the standard they are being held to before they submit.

The editorial board takes decisions on manuscripts alone. No advertiser, sponsor, institution or member of the board can secure the publication of a manuscript, and submissions from board members are handled by an editor with no connection to the work and no access to the author’s identity in review. The journal’s ethical framework follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics and is set out in the publication ethics and malpractice statement.

Publication model

The journal is diamond open access. Authors pay no submission fee, no processing fee and no page charge. Readers pay nothing and need no subscription or login. Authors retain copyright and articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence, which allows anyone to share and adapt the work with proper credit.

The journal is published from Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, and is edited by a board that serves without payment. The details of its identification, frequency, licensing and preservation arrangements are recorded on the indexing, abstracting and preservation page.

History

The journal was established in 2026. Its founding issue is open for submissions, and its editorial policies were adopted by the board before the first call for papers was issued, in the order a serious journal ought to do things.
