Editorial board

The board carries the journal. Every member is named in full with qualification, designation and institution, because a reader deserves to know who decided that a piece of research was fit to publish.

How the board works

The Editor in Chief holds final responsibility for what the journal publishes and for the conduct of its review process. The Managing Editor runs the editorial calendar, assigns manuscripts to reviewers and keeps the record of every decision. Board members and reviewers assess manuscripts against the published review criteria and may not review work by a colleague from their own department, a co author from the last three years, or a research student they have supervised.

Board members serve renewable terms of three years. A member who is unable to complete assigned reviews for two consecutive issues steps down, and the vacancy is announced on this website. Members receive no payment and hold no financial interest in the journal.

Editorial decisions are made on the manuscript alone. No member of the board can influence the outcome of a submission by an author known to them, and any submission by a board member is handled by a different editor with the author removed from all correspondence about it. This rule applies to the Editor in Chief as much as to any other member.

Widening the board

The board is expanding as the journal grows. Scholars holding a doctorate, with a record of published research and the willingness to return a review within three weeks, are invited to apply through the reviewer panel page. Applications from institutions outside India are particularly welcome, since a journal that calls itself international ought to look like one.
